Greetings fellow SA Wetland Society Member to your portal.

This site is a Member Only portal and is one of the benefits of being a member of the Society. We hope that you will derive much needed benefit from interacting with this site and other Society members. If you are not currently a Society member and would like to join, please click on the following link to find out more on how you can join: http://society.sawetlands.org.

At the outset the Trustees would like to remind you of keeping your subs membership up to date as part of that funding will be allocated to running and maintaining this site. Membership is due on 1 February of each year and is R250 for Ordinary Members and R50 for Student Members. Organisation Membership is R1,000 per year.

This year the Trustees are aiming to complete a number of tasks in order to bring the Society up to a level of sound operation. We will keep you up to date on this progress through the portal and will also be reporting back at this year's Indaba.

One exciting aspect which we hope will stimulate your involvement is that of the Working Groups. Each Working Group has its own section on the portal and is managed by team members. They will be responsible for keeping their Working Group up to date and it will be up to you to check in from time to time regarding progress. Please do make sure that you contribute your knowledge and expertise to these Working Groups as it will be this shared information that will be of benefit to other members.

The other exciting aspect is the soon to be launched Continual Professional Development (CPD) that SACNASP is undertaking as of April this year. If you are a professionally registered scientist you will be required to provide proof of CPD over a 5 year period. The Society will be developing CPD points that are relevant to the wetland community and that you as a member can accumulate.

Best wishes,
